The mission of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research Development and Acquisition (ASN (RDA)) is to support the war fighter by providing weapons, systems and platforms for the men and women of the Navy/Marine Corps that support their missions now and in the future and maintain a technological edge over our adversaries. ASN (RDA) works to improve the cost of delivering platforms, weapons systems, and networks to the warfighter. It is addressed along multiple, parallel paths --- including: contracting strategies and incentives, cost-estimating improvements, deriving the right design requirements from Fleet requirements, focusing on “total ownership costs,” and rebuilding the Science and Engineering foundation of our workforce.
